WORKING DOGS!

If you have a nice yard to let the Bloodhound run in, it won't have Trees or Plants in it for long.
It will have nice holes, sort of like World War II foxholes. Remember, what you think is just an adorable puppy is a Baby lumberjack/distroyer in disguise.  Bloodhounds are not for everyone please do the research and make sure you can handle the Drool, Digging, Size, smell, the responsiblity that comes with the up keep of the breed before you buy.

FENCE A MUST!

Bloodhounds are scent hounds when they are puppy's they are under your feet and watching your every move and always want to be where you are. But as they grow there noses lead the way! Training of a Bloodhound is a Must!  A properly trained Bloodhound may save it life someday, Bloodhounds are a stubborn breed and may not do well in most obedience classes but don't give up make it fun and treat it well and you well have a happier hound and happier you when your all done.

Drool

Are you a clean Person is your house always clean. Bloodhounds can sling drool from wall to wall and top to bottom and needless to say all over you. if you can't handle slobbery kisses and wet ears you need to think about another breed. Do you have guest over? well they will probably stop coming over unless you put your drool Moster out side.

Guarantee!

You must get a guarantee in writing on the puppy before you buy.  If they say My dog is a Champion well just because the dog looks good from the out side doesn't mean its hips are good! get OFA on parents as well. if you have any doubt with a breeder do not buy from that breeder! check references they can tell you alot the breeder will not. shape and condition of puppy etc.

Shots:

Some breeders give one set of shots and some do more. The more sets your puppy has before you get him the better his chances are.

I prefer not to place my puppies until they have had at least 2 sets, puppies that are weaned from mother get shots 2 weeks later then every 3 weeks until ready to go. normally 10 to 12 weeks in my house. I never adopt a puppy before 10 weeks there just not ready. Worming should be done by breeder.  Puppy should be wormed weekly.  Although they are not born with worms they are passed through mothers milk. We start worming at 3 weeks of age and continue till they leave here.
